Hyderabad, August 09: The final phase of Eamcet counselling for admission of candidates from ranks 54,001 to the last rank would begin on September 2.
This final phase would end on September 23 and classes would commence from September 24.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level conference held at the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).
"The ‘continued first phase’ of counselling for 52,000 SC, ST, BC(A), BC(C), BC(E) category students would be held from August 18 to August 29.
Meanwhile, the web-based counselling for the candidates would be held from August 22 to 31," said APSCHE Chairman K C Reddy.
Web-based counselling would be held in a scheduled manner, unlike the first come first serve basis manner done in the ICET counselling. And given the greater magnitude of BC(C) and BC(B) candidates (50,000) their counselling would be administered alongside the open category.
So far, 44,073 candidates attended the first phase counselling. "BC(E) candidates were given conditional admission and they would be given formal admission based on the Supreme Court’s verdict that is due," Reddy said.
Meanwhile, due to heavy rains, date of admission to the Indian Institutes of Information Technologies (IIITs) at Basara and Nuzivid for second batch of students has been postponed from August 11 to September 1.
Around 6,000 students are being admitted in four phased manner.
The dates of admission for third and fourth batches remain undisturbed.
"The work that was in progress at Basara and Nuzivid are heavily hit by the rains. So, we decided to postpone the admissions at all the three IIITs for the convenience of the students," Reddy said.
Reddy also informed that notification for the recruitment of higher positions like Directors and Deans of faculties would be issued soon, and maintained that the regular faculty force is ready and classes for the first batch of students are in progress.
A committee comprising five senior faculty members would be formed in a short time.
This committee would be looking into the creation of departments and faculties by the time the first batch of students, admitted this year, finish their two years of education at these IIITs.
Candidates were asked to bring only one parent at the time of admission
